International audienceThis article proposes to explain, by means of the model of a didactic analysis of the joint action of teacher and pupils (Sensevy & Mercier, 2007), part of the device known as mathematical research as it is practiced in a Freinet school in a working-class environment. The article relates to the analysis of the alternation between times of individual work and tutoring during a class session.
